How can I show my clients the substantial savings they’ll receive simply by filling out a health risk assessment?

Cost of Community Silver 004 Plan in 2020 WITHOUT a Health Risk Assessment (HRA)

In 2020, John was enrolled in a Community Silver 004 plan for a monthly premium of $488.34.

John qualified for APTCs that brought his monthly premium down to $175.54 but failed to complete his HRA. This would have saved him $48 monthly.

Instead, his monthly premium remained at $175.54.

Cost of Community Silver 004 Plan in 2021 WITH a Health Risk Assessment (HRA)

In 2021, John re-enrolls in the same plan with a new 2021 monthly premium cost of $523.38

John again qualifies for APTCs bringing his monthly premium down to $199.42.

However, this year he completes the HRA by December 15, dropping his 2021 monthly premium to $147.08 – saving over $50 monthly.

Cost of Community Bronze 003 Plan in 2020 WITH a Health Risk Assessment (HRA)

In 2020, Daisy and Carlos were enrolled in a Community Bronze 003 plan for a monthly premium of $686.72.

They qualified for APTCs that brought their monthly premium down to $60.32.

Additionally, they completed the HRA for a 10% savings off of the original monthly premium of $686.72.

As a result, Daisy and Carlos ended up paying $0 for their health coverage in 2020.

Cost of Community Bronze 003 Plan in 2021 WITH a Health Risk Assessment (HRA)

In 2021, Daisy and Carlos re-enroll in the same plan with a new 2021 monthly premium cost of $764.52

They again qualify for APTCs bringing their monthly premium down to $122.01.

They also, once again, complete their HRA, dropping their 2021 monthly premium to $45.46.

By filling out the HRA by
December 15, Daisy and Carlos
will save nearly $1,000 over the course of the year.

When does it make sense for my client to switch plans?

Mary was previously enrolled in the Community Silver 009 87 plan. However, Mary now makes slightly over 200% of the federal poverty line. Instead of enrolling into the 2021 Silver 009 73 plan, Mary is much better off enrolling into Community’s Gold 005 plan, which has lower premiums and richer benefits.

In 2020, Ellie and Elijah were eligible to receive CSRs for their Silver 004 plan due to their low income. However, Ellie received a raise and now they have a higher household income. This disqualifies them for cost sharing subsidies in the Silver plans. If, Ellie and Elijah enroll in Community’s Gold 005 plan, they will receive richer benefits at lower premiums.
